A modern house with a pool, seen at dusk. This is where the painting is headed.
On delivery day, the painting arrives covered by a cloth. One last gesture before unveiling it.
It all starts with a line drawing on a white ground: an elephant and a car that fit into each other.
The first layers, pink and soft, still shapeless. The figure hides under the colour.
The car emerges among greens and blues, with the elephant rising above it.
Darker and denser. The lines of the car gain strength and the background fills with stains.
The elephant begins to take over. The car stays behind, almost like a memory.
Blues finally define the elephant, with the dark background closing in around it.
The finished painting, with its words and its signature. An elephant that no longer fits in the car.
